According to historical sources, the castle was overseen by Pasha himself, who inspected the stages of construction for this regional gem. The current castle was rebuilt by him in 1819, covering an area of 4-5 hectares with three entrances and three towers. Until 1820, it served as the second residence of Ali Pasha Tepelena.
